As much as our gavel club polishes the eloquence of its members, it polishes friendships, spawning new memories to look back and smile one day. 29th June 2019 was one such day we wished lasted forever as we trailed to Balangoda for a breathtaking getaway.
Our shelter for our stay arranged by a member of our Gavel family was undoubtedly a dream destination. The indescribably amazing view of the lake backdropped by the rising and setting sun in the bright water pastel sky, the weightless winds, and the good company of the Gaveliers could wash away our academic stress and replace it with infinite happiness, restoring our energy to get back with university ventures.
This phenomenal getaway was the perfect opportunity for the newly joined members to get well acquainted with the extended gavel family. A noteworthy characteristic of University of Kelaniya Gavel Club is that whether the members are new or otherwise, everyone is wholeheartedly welcomed into the circle to share the same warmth that has been growing for 16 years.
A day of dancing, singing, playing games stretched to a sleepless night. Lying beneath the stars, staring into its Wonderwall, us Gavelliers chit-chatted the night away, dozing off to the blinking stars and waking up to the rising sun with the sad realization of returning home.
The Gavel Club of University of Kelaniya has gained much reputation by becoming the first ever Gavel Club in South Asia. The main intention of the Gavel Club is to help its members to improve their communication, language and leadership skills.
